A native of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Doug takes pride in learning his hard-work ethic from his "working with Dad" in his various family's businesses. There was work for various farmers in the area, but he relishes giving his dad assistance with Elkhorn Propane, the Purina Feed Mill, raising and showing registered Quarter horses, and the care of feeder pigs.
Work, as well as play, school sports, singing in choirs, drumming in band, and playing keyboards in rock bands, 4-H, all provided Doug a well-rounded foundation for his future.
After his Elkhorn High School years, Doug graduated from Midland University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. After college, he served his country four years in the U.S. Navy, and is a Vietnam War Veteran. He returned to the Omaha area, and began his insurance and investment career in 1976 with Mutual of Omaha. In 1988, Doug joined Mass MUTUAL as an agent and registered representative, and as the Nebraska Agency's investment and annuity supervisor. After 14 years, in 2002 Doug went independent as a total needs financial services consultant. From 2002 to 2004, he affiliated with GWR Investments as a financial advisor and as coordinator of Werner Trucking group life insurance and voluntary health insurance benefits. In 2004, Securities America acquired GWR, and Doug has enjoyed his years as a financial advisor with Securities America and Regency Investments.
Doug's main interests these days are family travel, playing golf, reading non-fiction, his daughters' and 9 grand childrens' many activities. He enjoys keeping up on economic and geo-political issues and events, and he is an active member in the Nebraska Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He supports his favorite charities including his church, St. Jude's Hospital, Food for the Poor, Open Door Mission, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, Disabled Veterans of America, and his grand childrens' youth sports programs. In his many years of experience, Doug takes pride in the opportunity to be an educational resource for his clients, and to assist and guide them to the achievement of their various insurance, investment, and retirement goals and objectives.
